Who is Sutherlin?

Sutherlin Automotive Group started in 1972 as a single dealership. More than fifty years later it's still family-owned, and it's grown by reinvesting in its stores rather than flipping them — people, buildings, technology.

We're not new to Huntington Beach, either. Sutherlin Subaru is right next door. Two Sutherlin stores, side by side, on the same stretch of Beach Boulevard.

That matters for a practical reason. We're not a group that shows up in a market and moves on. The people running this store live here.

We're on Beach Boulevard, a few minutes off the 405. Coming down the 405, exit Beach Boulevard and head toward the beach. Coming up Pacific Coast Highway, turn inland on Beach and we're on your right.

This is the question we get most, so let's answer it directly: yes, your service history stayed with us. If we've worked on your Kia before, we still have the file.

Your factory warranty is unaffected. Warranty coverage comes from Kia, not from whoever owns the building, so a change in ownership doesn't touch it.

Any prepaid maintenance plans or service contracts you purchased are still honored. Bring your paperwork if you have it, and if you don't, we can usually look it up.

What's changing, and what's coming

Now the bigger news.

Sutherlin didn't buy this store to leave it the way it is. The group is investing roughly $20 million in an entirely new dealership campus, built right next to Sutherlin Subaru Huntington Beach.

Here's what that means in practical terms.

We're currently on about 1.5 acres. The new campus will be five acres — more than triple the space. That buys a much larger showroom, a lot more service capacity, and somewhere comfortable to sit if you're waiting on an oil change.

The service capacity is the part we'd underline. The most common frustration at any busy dealership is how long it takes to get an appointment. More bays is the only real fix, and that's what the new campus is designed around.

"We believe Huntington Beach deserves one of the finest Kia dealerships in America, and that's exactly what we intend to build," said Brett Sutherlin, Owner and CEO of Sutherlin Automotive Group.

The stated goal is to become one of the top five Kia dealerships in the country by annual sales volume. Alongside Sutherlin Subaru next door, the two stores will anchor the group's West Coast operations.

None of this happens overnight, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. For now we're operating from the same lot on Beach Boulevard, and we'll share timing as the new campus takes shape.

What we sell and service

We carry the full Kia lineup — Telluride, Sportage, Sorento, Carnival, Seltos, K4, K5, and the electrified side of the range including the Sportage Hybrid, Sorento Hybrid, EV6 and EV9.

We also stock certified pre-owned Kias and a rotating selection of used vehicles from other brands.

On the service side, we're a factory-authorized Kia service center with Kia-trained technicians and genuine Kia parts. We handle warranty work, recalls, routine maintenance and bigger repairs.

And to be clear: you don't have to have bought your Kia here. We service any Kia, from anywhere. A lot of people don't realize that.

Familiar faces

If you've been here before, you'll recognize the people running things.

Danny Rodriguez, Service Manager. Danny runs the service drive and has been taking care of customers at this location for years. If you've had your Kia serviced here, there's a good chance you've already met him.

Mauricio Balderas, Sales Manager. Mauricio leads the sales floor and knows this inventory and this market inside out.

Tom Bramble, General Manager. Tom is leading the store through the transition. He's generally somewhere on the floor rather than behind a desk, so if a question isn't getting answered, ask for him.

What's different under Sutherlin

We're not going to make a pile of promises in a blog post. But a few things we're focused on from day one:
